Initially I jumped the gun on referring to the G1 Special New Japn did here in the US recently as what I thought was the start of the actual G1 Climax which is strictly a tournament that's done strictly in Japan and for that I apologize if I mislead anyone. I did not think they were just using the G1 as a reference to indicate it was
a tournament strictly for the US which was a two night special which many or some had saw Omega became the inaugural
NJPWUS Champion which unlike the actual G1 Climax which is now starting which you can watch on NJPW World for those interested.
Here's an intro vid.
Now I want to touch on the Tonga shoot or atleast what seemed like it was that's making rounds which was done their press
conference which you can watch below.
Okay so I agree to a good extent that it Bullet Club did help New Japan (whether those would agree or not) get more recognition then they probably would
not have had but they also had the talent to help them be in the same breath as the other big promotion over here and although the promo touched on some of the obvious, there are still some stuff that I don't think was taken into consideration before Tonga let loose like although the G1 USA special was a pretty good success, I don't have the numbers or anything, an event like the G1 Climax being the biggest event for New Japan takes alot of planning in the first place and I'm pretty sure it's been laid out where they are going to hold these events in Japan but now maybe because of the success of the recent G1 USA Special, there could be a possibility to try and add some dates for next year but that takes not only alot of planning as mentioned but it takes alot of money and knowing the right people to hold the events at and to distinguish how big of a place they would need and not book dates that if they planned on doing an few arenas to make sure their dates don't coincide with concerts or that other big company or just any events in general but it's good they have a network like AxsTv who's I'm sure would be willing to show wherever they hold the events if they do.
I guess Tango was trying plant seeds for New Japan to consider as well as putting over the BC but some of the other
stuff could have been handled better but that's just me. A quick FYI for anyone interested. Tonga is the son of another known wrestler you might know as Haku or even Meng. Him and his brother Tanga Roa are former 3 time IWGP Tag Team Champions.
On a more positive note, it's good to see Ibushi involved but do to the where he is positioned, we won't be able to see
an Omega/Ibushi match which if you ever seen these the ones with these two, they were very entertaining and fun to watch, that is if
like that style.
