this past week was Impact’s initial show on their new cable channel, Pursuit, which isn’t carried by my provider (Comcast/Xfinity). Thankfully, I was able to watch a portion of the show on Twitch but several times the screen went “black” and I had to restart my viewing which means I was unable to see all of the show.
the lack of significant commercial breaks (the fact that they had any surprised me) was a plus - none seemed to be a full minute long. Where commercials would normally have been seemed to be filled with multiple GWN highlights of previous TNA shows.
decent show overall with some really good match-ups amongst other parts that didn’t hold my interest as much. For the most part I have enjoyed how the newer mgmt has developed the talent currently associated with their product. I’ve enjoyed Johnny Impact as champion (though I’m ok if it’s not a long-term plan). He certainly has the athleticism if not the best promo skills. They’ve hit a home run with Tessa Blanchard, Killer Kross, the Lucha Bros, the new LAX, Rich Swan, Taya Valkyrie, and Willie Mack. I’ve very much enjoyed the direction they’ve pulled Callahan and Moose in (didn’t start out liking either one) and I’m intrigued with The potential of Scarlet Bordeaux’ character.
admittedly, for the last several years I’ve recorded Impact and watched it at my convenience and fast-forwarded through commercials and uninteresting matches. This new development will change my ability to do that and I’ll probably miss a large portion of, if not entire, shows. As a longtime supporter of the product, I hope this current broadcast situation is temporary and they are able to secure a much better broadcast partner.
With the advent of AEW and the near stranglehold WWE has on most channels that would desire wrestling programming, I’m far more concerned than ever about the promotion’s continued viability as a major player.
