Not sure how much longer Cabana will be nursing his injury but I like the decision to put the belt on James Storm. He’s a proven asset and can work either heel or face (or “tweeter”) with the best of them. I wouldn’t mind seeing he and Drake have an extended feud over the title, also

Submitted the bad leg with a half crab. Storytelling that makes perfect sense. More compelling than the AEW and WWE spot monkeys

AEW have a wrestler who pours baby oil on himself to get out of holds, a man with no legs in a battle royal, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega who have done jobs against nine year olds, throwing invisible fireballs...a tag team called Best Friends who hug and another guy who apparently it’s not PC to call a drag queen but he dresses like a girl and rubs peoples faces in his ass... I imagine Cody’s match and Moxley’s match had their moments but I’m not really into the thumb tack stuff... I like good wrestling and compelling stories. I’d rather have Flair-Steamboat than someone stapling his tongue to his balls

And plus; what I like about the NWA is the big fight feel. Aldis looks like an athlete, and dresses like a champion. James Storm looks like he could kick ass. Half the AEW roster look under 150lbs and 5’9. If I don’t believe they are badasses who are trying to win a match, no amount of doing somersaults off a ladder will impress me. It’s just cirque du soleil onto barbed wire. Whereas Aldis vs the Briscoes makes me feel like I did watching the Horsemen vs Dusty

Whereas Aldis vs the Briscoes makes me feel like I did watching the Horsemen vs Dusty I like your analogy of comparing Storm/Cabana to Horseman era NWA storytelling. I’d have to agree. That “feel” from the matches certainly has a lot to do with the talent but also in the sensible booking from Corgan/Lagana. It’s been outstanding since day one. id have to disagree with some of your comments on AEW. I think they’ve put out some good wrestling in a short time frame. I’m hoping (certainly one the TNT show premiers if not before) that it will evolve into a more well-rounded promotion with great storytelling to match the abilities of the athletes signed to that brand. I’ve never been as big of a fan of the lighter weight competitors squaring off against behemoths (one of many reasons I dislike inter-gender matches) but I do believe there’s a place in wrestling for all skilled competitors.

Im a fan of AJPW. For me AJPW is more compelling than NJPW. Im a fan of NWA. For me NWA is more compelling than AEW, WWE, or anything else. It's natural as a fanboy.

10 Pounds of Gold showed that good story telling can build suspense in a match even with fairly middle of the road wrestlers like Tim Storm. It was like Early Dusty stuff, instead of a plumber he was a school teacher but we cared because it was real.
In AEW we have wrestlers with no past history going straight into barbed wire thumb tack death matches.

AJPW is leagues better the NJPW right now in terms of in ring.. AJPW is wrestling, NJPW is Japans Version of Sports Entertainment...

I would call that show last night the drizzling shits but I had the drizzling shits today & my Drizzling shits are insulted I called them AEW Fyter Fest.. It was low quality shindy stuff.. So far AEW has given us: A man with no legs in an ass kicking contest A wrestler who pours baby oil on himself to escape holds A male wrestler who dresses in women's clothes and makeup but apparently it's not PC to says he's a drag act A video game company CEO in a hardcore match Joey Janela, a man who has piledrived a 15 year old girl on a car bonnet in a main event A 3 man team (each of whom has wrestled little girls and in Omega's case a blow up doll) dressed as 1990s video game characters throwing invisible fireballs. I can see why your drizzling shits are offended. Why is Jon Moxley having a blowoff style match (hardcore) in his first match with the company? Let's hope the NWA sticks with the old school storytelling we saw at the Crockett Cup and doesn't get drawn into the clown show that AEW is proving to be

One good match, two bad matches, and the rest were "OK" at best. The announcing isn't very good, even with Jim Ross. The Kenny Omega stuff in the first hour was plain stupid as are having an female and male wrestlers arguing over who gets a stupid gimmick.

A bunch of moves don't make a match. I love the Lucha Bros, except for when they wrestle for AEW, it's amazing how the same talent can be so different in one place versus another. Less really is more.
