Do I agree with the way the NWA was taken over, not really but also Bruce has advised me many times that he didn't want it and it was handed to him like a sick baby he had to help. I think he was/is bullshitting you! I think he wanted control all along otherwise he would have gone above and beyond to keep his partners on board along with CWFH and Anarchy staying part of the NWA. Also I HATE that he took over cause you saw several top quality promotions leave the NWA as a result and you have seen piss poor booking about how the NWA World Hvy Title has changed hands. Also Cabana would have been a good Champion if allowed to get himself booked in a similar was Adam Pearce did. I understand Cabana isn't everyone's cup of tea but he is known and does get booked! To be fair, Blue Demon got similar treatment as Colt when he was Champion. Not many NWA Promoters understood his value or Lucha for that matter.

I wasn't a fan as Demon as champion but it had little to do with Demon himself.
I would of liked for Cabana to have had a chance to hold the title for awhile as well.

Well, not everyone is Bruce Tharpe's drinking buddy like you. I did not know some of the inside things that went on until I watched the video. Don't be an ass. 80% of what I learned was on the old board. Any "inside" information I got was directly from PWO LLC members. In fact, to this day Tharpe has never said one word to me on the issue. Pearce had shared his views on different podcasts prior to the DVD coming out. "Dont be an ass"? Sorry to offend you! Maybe you need one of those Non Offensive Decompression rooms they have in universities now?. Anyways I felt that the video confirmed several speculations said on the board.

Maybe so Dave but I felt at least from the outside of things Demon wasn't doing enough to get booked like Pearce did. But as I said that is how it looked to me. I am probably wrong.

I would love to hear from Chris or Fred on this subject? Hindsight is a beautiful thing and we all learn so much from it. However what do you think the current NWA operational team have learnt from such an episode? It made me understand why Jax was their current champion too. Jax is a very respectable man (from my brief conversations with him), maybe he is seen as trust worthy and someone they can control?
DKM, have you got any thoughts on the period? Love to know what you make of it regardless of how old the news is.

Demon was the best thing to happen to us. He was different and international. Our membership didn't understand how to use him and especially didn't understand his drawing power, not to mention he was on a Coke can! Remember Full Throttle Energy Blue Demon flavor? Billboards, store displays, the works! I did outstanding gates with him as Champion. We also go him booked in Japan, Canada (in front of the Prime Minister) and the Louver in France. Liking his work is one thing, but much like Cabana, him as an attraction was important to growing the NWA and it worked.

Tony and Fred in the past have said Bruce Tharpe is the reason this all happened but regardless, why would you not want Colt Cabana as NWA World Heavyweight Champion?
If Cabana had held the title for all of 2013 like originally planned he would have continued getting the NWA exposure in the United States but also Japan. Additionally you had Cabana wrestle in Australia, Canada, Germany and Scotland. That could have been SIX countries where Cabana defended the gold or at least appeared with it, he also worked for some major indies such as CHIKARA and CZW. Compare this to Conway and Kahagas who between them only managed to defend in Dominican Republic (Kahagas), Japan (Conway) and the United States (Both). Neither worked for a major indy during their reign as champion.
I think if I were a promoter I'd want my local champion to be a guy who I can post photos of on social media and talk about how he's just completed a successful tour of Japan or Scotland or what have you and really build his monthly appearances for me as a big deal. The NWA's reasoning of "Oh, he gets booked a lot" is actually a great thing. The NWA Facebook page could have shown photos of Colt Cabana wrestling in NOAH or videos of him wrestling on Japanese TV holding THEIR title belt."NWA World Heavyweight Champion Colt Cabana has been successful on his tour of Japan and now is coming to the NWA in these locations at x, y and z" means a lot more than what is currently going on where Jax Dane is rarely mentioned.
But never mind. Bruce Tharpe did the right thing, instead of Colt Cabana being a 5-6 time World Champion in 2016 and STILL travelling the world with the gold we instead have Jax Dane Vs Tim Storm...

Well depending on what you mean the period really has to be understood as being from the time the titles left TNA until probably a year ago.
The key time was in fact not the eventual takeover but just before and the split between Sheik's group and the NWA. A lot of the ground work and a lot of the accusations were made at that time that would later be used in the takeover. Here is something funny, I was a big defender of the NWA against many of the Sheik's claims and his group accused me of being a "Trobich drinking buddy" or whatever BS people want to spew.
I did not like the 7 levels of hate angle. Took too long and was far to predictable. Although I understand the logic used when it came to not using Cabana as champion I would of let him win and just kept looking for a time to for him to drop it I wasn't happy with his reign as champion and nobody would care today.

I still think the NWA mess up by handling the CMLL situation all wrong but that's another topic. LOL at NWA Mexico
I thought Tharpe wanted to work with Cabana but Cabana had other plans?
I hated the idea of the best of 7 series. Titles can change hands in each match make no sense to me at all.
