That wasn't a plane btw. It was actually the new "mothership of the National Wrestling Alliance!!!". New promotion from what I hear and the promoter Nat Frepling really wants to restore glory to the NWA name. I mean his family has a bit of money and he runs a business himself so how could it fail??? Oh and from what I hear they booked the Nassau Coliseum on long Island for the debut show. And of course you can't expect to draw what??? 10-15 certainly no more just using local guys right. So they booked straight off Destination America's Impact Wrestling Trevor Lee!!! And tickets start at just $25 G/A!!! DON'T MISS THE NEW "NEW MOTHERSHIP OF THE NWA"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gonna be bigger than JCP;-)
Hell guys his mother has a minor league baseball stadium named after her!!! The Wanda Q. Frepling Stadium!!!!

I must be blind on not seeing anything! I don't get it not sure why you're seeing it a different story. We have a different opinion, I'm ok with that.

It's not a difference of opinions, but we also know the NWA can't do any wrong in your eyes now. It's alright to be an overly positive guy about it, but just can't be too blind towards it either.

Yes, I do try to stay more positive, it a application I use in life in general not just with wrestling. By-the-way, the same accusation about me was made under Trobich and others. I have no problem criticizing any of them when I disagree. I do, however, keep things in perspective.

I'm going to ask a couple of questions, and give my opinions. Feel free to disagree. 1. What is the purpose of creating a "teaser" video? We would do occasional teaser vids for both Force 1 and Coastal. We viewed it as a "mini commercial" that would motivate people to either take interest in our promotion, or at the very least become interested in the show were were currently running (& hopefully buy a ticket). 2. Let's step away from our personal issues (good or bad) with the NWA. Let's not bring the NWA into this at all. After watching that video, with the Little Richard music from nearly 60 years ago, the prop plane, and the flyer, is there a reason to take additional interest in the promotion or their current show simply based on the teaser? I think no. 3. If this were to air in this promotion's TV broadcast area (which is serviced by Comcast, where a 30 second spot on Raw would cost about $200 in the smaller PA markets, and considerably more in Philly (IF they were trying to draw from that area) would a fan be motivated to buy a ticket?

A task I've had professionally in the past is writing scripts for radio advertisements so I'd like to think that maybe I can offer a different opinion here. First, before I even get to the advertisement what we're taught in school about this is that when we write an advertisement it has to be exciting but also informative. So for example, if you're advertising a cleaning company on radio you want to use words or ask questions that can get people to buy a product. A cleaning company you want to emphasise things such as how much time hiring a company will save you, what you can do with your spare time, how you'll have more time for your kids etc etc and all this new found free time is only going to cost you 95 dollars a week for one weekly cleaning. For entertainment style things such as comedy events, sporting events, theatre shows or in this circumstance professional wrestling you have a lot more to work with. You want to tell the people who is coming. I've recently moved but my home city is a small regional city and we have a professional basketball team who I once wrote a 30 second spot for on radio. They don't have a big star player but emphasis was placed on how they have a young and exciting team (Which they do) that are really showing the stars how it's done and are the underdogs. That area likes that because the city is blue collar and is in huge competition with Sydney city. So, lets move onto the second thing. If I'm doing a commercial for television or an online commercial and it's for an upcoming event I have the advantage of being able to show the audience certain things. For basketball I can show dunks, for cleaning companies I can show spotless and beautiful homes so with wrestling you want to show what attracts a wrestling fan. Hard hitting action, big bodies, hot girls, spot monkeys, maybe a recognisable name or two. This commercial doesn't have that. Some people seem down on the plane thing but it's not terrible. It's kind of unique and different plus you're giving off the vibe that they're on their way to the debut and that all the wrestlers are on the flight. I have no issue with that but the problems with this commercial are that there is too much plane stuff. If I'm doing this commercial for them I'm splicing footage of the guys that the people are going to see and the plane is the supporting act to it all. I don't know who this companies top guy is but I'd put footage of him and whoever the regulars are throughout it and the plane is getting maybe 5-10 seconds total and is taking the back seat to the wrestlers. You may argue that they don't have footage yet but you can do the same things with promos. Put a couple of 5-10 second promos in between the flying and maybe show off some of your wacky/compelling characters that may attract the people. Doesn't even have to be a "promo" but maybe just "NWA North East! Place! Time!" before going back to the music and flying. The biggest mistake made is that nothing is shown about the details of the event. They've tried to show the event poster but I can't see the details or who is even on the show. They don't have a voice over guy ending the commercial with "Come and watch NWA North East at the Jay Cal Civic Centre at 8:30 PM on January 27th" and the information isn't written there. Basically the commercial/hype video is a waste of time but to be positive the plane thing is at least unique and different. If I saw it on TV or something I wouldn't channel surf but the good idea has been wasted because I as a wrestling fan know absolutely nothing about the event, which of my favourites will be there or what have you. Don't worry, it makes us laugh too! It's not true, that's what makes me laugh. Yes, I do try to stay more positive, it a application I use in life in general not just with wrestling. By-the-way, the same accusation about me was made under Trobich and others. I have no problem criticizing any of them when I disagree. I do, however, keep things in perspective. DKM, I understand you're an optimistic guy but to say that you're not the "fan boy" type is a little dishonest (No disrespect intended of course) You, Shawn and Dody are the three guys who never say a bad thing about the NWA no matter what they do. Tharpe focuses on NJPW instead of the promotions he's got in his homeland and you think it's fantastic and the right thing to do but if Tharpe cut ties with NJPW tomorrow you'd think it was good also. I remember having a discussion with you a month or two ago about whether or not Bruce Tharpe has been bad for the NWA or not. Yourself and Shawn were the only two who said he was not, the majority said he was. You have the right to an opinion but I think you might be the type of guy who thinks that if you're negative about a product it makes you less of a fan which just isn't true. I love the NWA and would love to see it achieve the greatness it once had and so does everyone else here but I recognise the negatives and point them out. People such as yourself who pat Tharpe on the back and say "Good job, you're doing great" are just encouraging the decline of the National Wrestling Alliance.

DKM, I understand you're an optimistic guy but to say that you're not the "fan boy" type is a little dishonest (No disrespect intended of course) Sure, I'm a "Fan-boy". I don't have a problem with that, but to say I have not criticized decisions made or I think they can do no wrong is just plain bullshit. I was very critical of how they had Kahagas win the title. I hate the current JP Belts National heavyweight title. I didn't like how Kacee won the title, I hate they 3-ways that saw the both times KES lost the tag team titles. I often ripped them about letting Matt Epling renew his membership when he was noting more than a joke. There has been other promotions I thought were jokes as well. That's just off the top of my head. My last comment on this issue is, I liked it. I might be the only person on the planet that does, I'm OK with that. I've loved shows that were canceled quickly and hated shows that have run for years (can't stand Modern Family). I just don't understand why people have an issue that I like it.

Nobody has an issue with you liking it but it's a little hard to believe that it actually made you interested in the company long term.
As for you being negative I'm sure it's happened but I can't honestly re-call it ever happening.

Nobody has an issue with you liking it but it's a little hard to believe that it actually made you interested in the company long term. Never once said that. In fact what I did say was "Was it great, no. Will I remember it, yes. Will it make me more likely to buy a ticket, no. Will it make me less likely, no. Nobody has to like it, I do. Maybe its just my PMA." As for you being negative I'm sure it's happened but I can't honestly re-call it ever happening. Hell I've even agreed with you from time to time, but that doesn't fit the narrative. Just like a above some of you are very selective in remembering what people post.

My mistake, you said it was memorable. Memorable is the Dusty Rhodes "That's hard times" promo or John Elway leading Denver to a Superbowl win. Memorable isn't the NWA North East video. I'll have forgotten about it in a few days.

The only thing I had an issue with the video is that it was called a hype video, yet didn't offer me any real information on what it was hyping. Polejump through his learning in doin these type of videos pointed out the flaws.
Now, if it gave more information then it would have done its job. But to me it failed from the start, it as nice seeing a jet with the NWA lettering on it ala North-West Airlines lol but it didn't offer anything.

I think Polejump's analysis of the video is fair. I still don't like it. I don't know if I would like it, had they listened to PJ. As for Mr. DKM's Fanboy... I don't think that's a fair statement. I believe that DKM searches out for the positive.
