That does look a bit like a list of jabronis. If the world title is being contested by a former WWE star and a former TNA star, shouldn't the secondary title have some name value competitors? In days gone by it was held by Jack Brisco, Tommy Rich and Dusty Rhodes...

Cabana is a former champion. Sky and Mack both challenged Pearce for the title.
Mack currently holds two titles including the CWFH Heritage and HOH Twitch TV.
Sky is getting exposure in ROH.

My choice would be Scorpio Sky, I don't see Colt Cabana winning as he would be more suited for the World Title!

Couldn't disagree with you more here. My heart says Scorpio Sky but my mind is telling me Mack. I'm gonna go with Sky but wouldn't be mad with any of the gentlemen listed to be honest

In days gone by it was held by Jack Brisco, Tommy Rich and Dusty Rhodes... You don't follow wrestling do you? Not any more to be honest. The first NWA event I watched was the Great American Bash 1985. I grew disenchanted in 1991 when they stripped Flair of the title and brought in the clowns (Oz, Big Josh etc). So I switched to Nobuhiko Takada's Uwfi as it was more serious with Lou Thes. As commissioner. I returned to WCW in 1993 when Flair came back but I found it sickening when that WWF clown hogan lifted the gold belt. So I have sporadically kept an eye on the NWA since. I watched TNA for a while when Sting was NWA champion. I liked Brent Albright and Adam Pearce as NWA champions but I lost interest in the following administration. I think now is the most exciting time for the NWA since 1991. All IN's title match was very good (if a little overbooked) and I'm very excited Cornette and Schiavonne are doing NWA 70. I love the links to the NWA's history. The Ten Pounds of Gold videos have been superb. So apologies I do not know the Indy wrestlers in the tournament but I realise now others do

Honestly I think Cabana would be the best option here. In this incarnation of the NWA he isn't really World Title material which is good because a sometimes serious sometimes comedy wrestler shouldn't be holding the World Title.
To my knowledge he's quite affordable to book, he is a good wrestler, is accepted as a main event wrestler in lower to mid tier companies, tours the world and is booked on big shows quite often also (All In, ROH etc).

I think Colt Cabana will win his elimination much and put over the eventual National Champion. I think they'll put the belt around an up and comer's waiste and build him up to be a heavyweight contender. I could be wrong though.

Sky is a star in ROH, Colt Cabana former NWA Worlds champion and known ROH star, Sam Shaw made quite an impact in TNA, Willie Mack is currently HOH, and CWFH champion, and great athlete in Lucha Underground. The other guys I’m not familiar with, and I’m ok with that. These guys are the future stars of wrestling, and I’m going to sit back and watch the action.

Sorry guys late to the conversation, but I'm happy to see a bunch of relative unknowns in the mix, one of the things I hate about independent wrestling lately is that you see the same dozen guys everywhere. When they announced Colt Cabana I was vocal on Twitter in my disappointment to the point where Colt even replied to me. Don't get me wrong I like him, but this isn't 2002 anymore and Second City Saints aren't coming back, even his world title days are 6 years ago and let's face it his best wrestling is behind him. Most of the field are guys that never had the chance to break out they got close but something happened and they missed the opportunity. So I'm excited to see what they can do. I feel Cabana, Sky, and Mack are there to help give one of the others the rub. They're building this thing back from the ground up and you dont want a champion that is already committed somewhere else.
