Silas Young is one of my favorite wrestlers contracted to ROH. The guy just works his old-style villain gimmick to a tee. That said, I’ve referenced on other wrestling sites and I’m starting the conversation about it here, I think they missed a chance on creating more buzz for him by not billing him as an “Anderson” - as in the Minnesota Wrecking Crew. The guy (to me) looks amazingly similar to Lars Anderson (Larry Heinemi, on the far right in the photo) from back in his Georgia Championship Wrestling days, and his personality has always reminded me of Ole Anderson (Alan Rogowski, on the far left in the photo). I could easily have seen them putting those Anderson style boots on the guy and sell him as Lars’ son. Heck, he looks more like an “Anderson” than Arn (Marty Lunde) does to me. I would think there would’ve been some mileage with him using that gimmick against other true 2nd generation wrestlers like Cody (continuation of the Anderson/Rhodes feud, as referenced in the poster below) or even Wes Brisco. Would’ve loved to have seen him either “in” or working against the Extreme Horseman a few years back. I’d love to read others’ thoughts on Silas and this idea. Attachments:

Probably could of worked, but there are a lot of "Anderson" in wrestling.

Unless there is a new anderson team it would not make sense

Unless there is a new anderson team it would not make sense The Anderson’s were definitely known for being a premier “family” tag team but through fairly significant periods of time during the old GCW and Mid-Atlantic days, both Ole and Lars had some significant singles runs, as both heels and definitely as top heels. I certainly respect your opinion, I just feel if booked correctly it could of worked well. For example, could’ve added some fuel to a Cody vs Silas series of matches back when Cody was in ROH.

There was an attempt with a new Andersons in NWA Charlotte with Brad and C.W., but there were various reasons it did not work. They did pair Brad with Reid Flair at one point too. So it was a nostalgic throwback. Now if they brought in C.W. prior to Silas and worked on that I could see it. But it is better to build on new stars with new names rather than trying to focus on using an older name. Sometimes that does fall apart and it does not get the pull it used to. Prime example there have been several 2nd generation wrestlers that have came into WWE in the last several years that instead of focusing on the namesake they went a different direction, I assume that is due to the thought that current fans would not remember these stars from yesteryear. Just my thoughts

Just my thoughts There’s a lot of truth to what you reference about how several of the 2nd generation wrestlers have been treated creatively with their gimmicks. I’d agree that there probably is a disconnect between current “younger” fans in WWE (I believe a majority of their fan base) and deeper knowledge of past wrestling greats that have not been promoted over the years by WWE...and due to the contentious relationship between Ole and Vince jr. the WWE will never promote the Anderson legacy as they should. i guess my thoughts centered around the fact that ROH, a company that seems to respect tradition and emphasize wrestling’s rich history, may have missed out on a great gimmick with Silas. I feel like they’re fan base would be more likely overall to appreciate a gimmick capitalizing on a 2nd generation wrestler (albeit faux) from such a prominent wrestling “family” i would’ve liked to have seen the Brad Anderson/Reid Flair pairing, or even the CW/Brad pairing for that matter. I’m just a mark for the good old days of wrestling and those type gimmicks, when done well, further revitalizes the fan in me.
