The NWA recently posted an Instagram pic of Orville Brown and his old NWA belt.
There's some discussion on the thread, and one I started over on Wrestling Classics about the belt and its origin. It has National Wrestling Alliance written on it but also the date of 1936 which pre-dates the NWA.
I've looked into it and found this video which reveals it's actually the Midwest Wrestling Association belt that was re-engraved with the name National Wrestling Alliance, since Orville Brown held both championships.
It appears therefore that this was the very first National Wrestling Alliance world heavyweight championship belt.
Brown's grandson now has the belt:
When Lou Thesz won the championship, he carried his old National Wrestling Association belt instead.

That belt was on an episode of "Antiques Roadshow" The appraisal was low in my opinion.

Deep in my heart, I wish for Billy to purchase that Belt. The NWA maybe don't own the original Ten Pounds of Gold (which in Triple H's office now), but at least we have the "original" NWA Belt.
