Today marks the 63rd birthday of the late and great New Jersey Promoter Dennis Coralluzzo.
Dennis Coralluzzo was an incredible force in Professional Wrestling. He knew the business. He lived the business. He loved the business.
Dennis was robbed of the best years of his life. His son Marc Coralluzzo and daughter Melissa Coralluzzo-Miller are testimonials to his love, energy and sense of humor.
Working with Howard T. Brody and the late Steve Rickard, Dennis resurrected the National Wrestling Alliance thus saving it from extinction.
Today would have marked his 63rd birthday. And while Dennis did not live to enjoy the occasion, those of us who knew him toast the countless stories and laughs we had alongside him, the silly, inconsequential disagreements and squabbles that were meaningless in the overall scheme of things.
Dennis "got it." He understood and was able to both add to and sift-through most of the craziness that is the lifeblood of the pro wrestling industry.
Plain and simple - - Dennis was, from nose-to-toes, wrestling.
Dennis Coralluzzo gave many of today's mainstream talent, both women and men, their first opportunities. His shows often served as a proving ground for aspiring workers to develop and refine their gimmicks. Many owe Dennis much.
Count me among them.
God rest his soul for eternity.

Most of the stories (both good and bad) that you've heard about Dennis are true. I don't know why, but Dennis was always good to me and John House during our time doing the WrestlingGuys radio/internet show. He really put us on the map, got guests for us that we wouldn't have been able to have on otherwise. From Dory Funk to Gordon Solie, and others inbetween, Dennis would hook us up, and because of that, more people would want to appear on our show.
I was with Dennis when he ran his first show after his exile from the NWA, with a promotion called Garden State Wrestling. That show caused a real stir because he ran an NWA "Championship" match, and put the belt on a young kid named Billy Real. Great worker who came up through the ranks with Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere back in the day. Obviously it was an illegal title change, but it was a fun night. The guys in the locker LOVED Dennis, and there's even a Facebook group where workers can share Dennis anecdotes & stories.
He put many people in the business, many who are still with the top promotions today.
RIP, Denny......
