What exactly is a TGI Fridays? Is it a restaurant with function rooms where perhaps Tharpe is going to do some set up and have a small 50-60 seat presentation in a small auditorium with cameras etc or is he simply going to sit at a table in front of 10 NWA people and award the belt to JR in a crowded restaurant? The reason I ask is because some non chain restaurants in my town (And surrounding areas) offer function rooms that are pretty low end and cheap which I've always thought would be perfect for those "Dinner with the wrestler" or presentation type events. Lets hope Bruce has managed to get something like that and isn't just taking the belt out of a plastic bag and handing it to JR. Also, why not try and make some cash off of this? If he managed to rent a 50-60 seat function room and he has 10 of his guys there or whatever why not sell 50 seats at 20 dollars a seat? For the chance to see JR be inducted into a Hall Of Fame, hear the man speak about the old days and potentially meet him I'd pay twenty. I'm sure a lot of old school wrestling fans (Who will be in town for Cauliflower Alley) would pay it as well. ever watch Office Space? The restuarant where Jen Aniston works at is a parody of TGI Fridays. And Crazzysteve, I think someone deleted my posted here cause it was critical of Tharpe.

Never saw Office Space but I'm pretty much okay with the whole thing if Tharpe has hired a function room where he can put a few NWA logos and have a projector showing JR's greatest NWA moments and give the man at least a half decent ceremony.
Also, if it's some tacky ceremony in a crowded restaurant I'd like to point that out without my post being deleted.

No posts have been deleted by me
TGI Friday is a casual dining place.
The way I look at, the only person who opinion matters to me is Ross.

Well JR isn't going to say anything negative ever about the ordeal. They could award the belt to him at a local park and he'd still say it was great because he's a classy guy and they're giving him a gift.
We'll see when pictures are released.

I would assume someone sooooooo familiar with the states would suggest appetizers from Friday's at this point! This is Bush League!!! It's gotta be a rib right? In truth it's all just mark Bullshit. JR only called "NWA" wrestling for a couple years. Truthfully I think a Tony Schiavone or a Bob Caudle would be more appropriate but RBT is a Mark for slob-knobing with "his people"....oh you know, people who've also spent their entire lives in the business!!! And for shits and giggles let's say his whole "Uncle Lou" thing is a work he's still a total mark. You "work" to "draw" money and to quote Eazy E "Aside from Jim Ross and my gay lov....I mean best friend Jason Hervey here absolutely no one else sitting in this Applebee's right now has drawn a dime".
Is it too much to hope for when James Beard finishes the introduction and opens the box to hand JR that old slobberknocker of a belt that the box is empty? And then all heads turn to RBT and he gives em the old Alright, Alright and unbuttons his sparking teal sports coat only to reveal he's been wearing the belt ALL DAY LONG!?!?!

Not sure how this thread got out of control, but then again someone had to make it about Tharpe. All DKM was pointing out that it was a nice looking belt that LR had done.

I think that this should be the way the NWA moves forward with their HoF. Each new inductee gets a custom HoF belt. That could get attention.

There needs to be a return on investment for everything the NWA does right now. The NWA hall of fame hasn't generated or "drawn" a dime, not a dime, never drew a dime haha. Mike Graham impressions aside I think the best thing the NWA could do with their hall of fame moving forward is at the beginning of the year Tharpe and co select 6 or so candidates and then every other month have a single induction. Say Bill Dundee is the first inductee of the new year, 1. We get Bill to agree to be there! but then have the induction take place at a SAW show with the registered NWA member inducting him. Of course film the entire ceremony and also get footage of Bill throughout the day talking about his career and the business. Interview workers on the card and even fans. Since Bruce likes to be involved they can have him be a host/intro and that can be filmed in Texas or Colorado or wherever he is. maybe at the end of Bills speech he says one last thing, on March 24th at the NWA MidWest show in Toledo Ohio the NWA will be inducting Dan The Beast Severn. Fancy up the package and throw the whole thing on youtube. Or hell get them the belts! I dont know. I'm still trying to justify Mike Sircey in h.o.f. period! Never mind a $1,000 belt. Although again.....Jim Ross went to the NWA in 87...was sold to Turner 6 months later at the end of 88 and almost immediately branded itself WCW and by 90 they were using the name nwa as little as possible and Ross would wwf bound anyhow....And would NEVER work for the NWA again.....So why is JR GETTING A DANGED OLD BELT???

Because Leather Rebels wants to get heir name out. I highly doubt Tharpe went to them and presented this idea so they could get Jim Ross booked for their HOF event! I have a feeling LR created a belt, presented it to Tharpe (for free, yes free) so they can get noticed for their work and get potential new orders.
