Were you ever a big fan of an "Up and Comer" who you thought was a "Can't Miss"? You thought they were going to go on to be come a "Major Star" but never really did.
One for me was Brad Armstrong. When I first saw him, I figured he was going to go on to become a big star. He did have spell with both the National title and North American title and was the last WCW World Light Heavyweight Champion, but his lack of a strong personality caused him to never have a break out moment.

Going back to the old NWA, I really liked LazerTron... but that's because I loved Lazer Tag. I also was the only person who ever openly rooted for "Mean" Mike Enos.

Not NWA but Chris Masters when he first debuted. You have this guy who looks like a million dollars, young and plays "arrogant dick" really well. Not a great talker or in-ring worker which hurt him but I felt he'd get through with his character execution and look.
Now he works the indies and it's looking unlikely that he'll ever return to WWE.

He was getting really good near the end of his last WWE run.. I think if he went to Japan after that he would have improved even more & would be a bigger name in wrestling today

This may not be my best pick but it was the first person to come to mind was Del Wilks.. I still think WWE & WcW dropped the ball on him...

He's really decent in the ring now though. Not as big as he was back in the day but works a really stiff style and is entertaining. Definitely worth a watch if he's appearing nearby or on television.

Here's one that comes to mind for me. At one point he was NWA North American Champion, seemed like he had everything going for him, even spent some time with a WWE developmental deal. He was original for his time, one of the first guys to work the indy wrestler look we see so overused today, cutoff shorts with wide legs.
Tom Carter, aka, Reckless Youth. I wasn't the only one who felt he was a can't miss wrestler.
He had the talent, had a little arrogance, but not the kind that would turn anyone off to him, had a great work ethic. To this day I don't know why he didn't go further. I knew him, and would talk with him in the locker here and there, and then you'd watch him and his moves were so smooth.
Anyone else remember him?

I remember you guys loving Chance Prophet.
I was on the Damien Wayne bandwagon from day one. The matches with Scotty Blaze is some of the best independent matches in history.

I remember you guys loving Chance Prophet. I still do. I was very surprised that he was never picked up by TNA back in the day. In a weird way Gunner is another one. One short reign with the TV title and one tag team title reign with James Storm.
