Okay... I admit it!!! I'm a mark. Fantasy Booking... Look at that crowd for Kurt Angle in the UK. He's facing the UK's top star right now Zack Sabre Jr. Look at that draw. Why can't someone in the NWA figure out this formula. Take the biggest free agent in wrestling. And put him a match against the biggest star in the NWA. Maybe that person isn't Jax Dane (but honestly, why isn't he?) That's how we're going to rejuvenate wrestling. Booking storylines will keep your fan base. But stunt booking is how you're going to draw the casuals. I'm not saying its even possible, but could you imagine the draw of someone at the level of Kurt Angle wrestling at a NWA show? Applaud you sir, exposure is everything Jay, in 2016 the championship doesn't make the man, the man makes the NWA World Championship….
Maybe Kurt is a bit financially out of reach, but there are ways to rejuvenate interest in the belt and that was something very high on my agenda.
Rev Pro are a fantastic company, the scene here in Britain is thriving. Our last 2 shows have been sell outs and it looks like our next 2 over the coming months will too!

Of any wrestler alive today he is my dream champion for the NWA.

I was private messaged that Kurt Angle is around $4,000 plus accommodations. Calculated risks... but damn.

$4500-5000 not bad for Kurt. A good promoter can make that work in their favor. Rey Mysterio Jr and Johnny Mundo/Morrison would be my top choices if I was going that route especially Johnny Mundo, I think he is fantastic. Mundo and Lethal are my two favorite pro wrestlers on the planet.

That's not a bad price at all actually. I would have thought he would have been more.

Jay that price doesn't sound accurate.

I think 4000 for Kurt would be very very low. It's a lot of money for 15-20 minutes work but Mysterio is 20,000 and those two are on about the same level in terms of popularity and achievements. I'd say Kurt is ten thousand at the very least but that's simply a guess.
Hypothetically if he was only four thousand that's still a lot of money you then need a five star hotel and probably a first class flight as well, that suddenly becomes a 5000-6000 dollar trip (more if international)
IF an NWA promoter could afford that who does the NWA have where you could create a match to catch both casual and hardcore fan attention like the UK match? I'd like to see Angle/Chase but I'm not sure that's a 5000-6000 dollar match.
As for him being champion I would say no. No NWA promoters could afford him regularly and only a couple use stars on his level which makes me think they generally couldn't afford him once.
I do like the dream match idea though, before Davey Richards signed with TNA it was revealed he made something like 200 for each domestic booking, at that stage the NWA Jr belt should have gone on him and Davey could have defended it. Davey was big at the time so stuff like Davey/Liger, Davey/Gedo, Davey/Kushida and even other ROH guys like O'Reilly could have really attracted the smarks. I believe Davey was regularly working fit NWA Oklahoma at the time with Smoky Mountain using him occasionally also. Another missed opportunity by the NWA.

When I started using Davey in 2011 he was under contract with ROH and was limited as to what he could and couldn't do as far as TV and iPPV. His commitments at the time would have made it hard for him to have been an NWA champion.
He had a hell of a program with Chase Owens for me that was really the turning point in Chase's career.

I'm sure the 20K is negotiable and only has a high paid booking price cause he wants to have serious promotions only booking him instead of your tom, dick, harry promotion in front of 50 people.

Rey does not make that much with every event. He give deals to promoters like Hugo and CRASH.
