New Japan is planning on expanding to North America. They are the only company in the world with the resources to go head-to-head with the WWE.

Yes, but I'm unsure how successful they will be. They'll get the smart marks but I have my doubts that they'll tap into the casual fan base. The language barrier will be what prohibits them from gaining a real strong hold in the US & Canada. But from a talent standpoint, I think they'll get more competitive in picking up the international wrestlers.

Well, I realize this is an old post but I believe AEW May fill this role, even if they claim to not be in “direct competition” with WWE. They are certainly competing with them in regards to talent signing already.
A good TV deal on a Turner network with Jim Ross commentating certainly places them as the most serious contender to WWE’s dominance since WCW.
