Looks like NWA have lost a promotion www.facebook.com/fightnationukFIGHT! NATION WRESTLING leaves the NWA 1st March 2016 - Fight! Nation Wrestling officially announce their departure from the NWA. 'After being part of the NWA over the past year we decided that where we want to take our brand doesn't marry well with the current direction of the NWA therefore moving forward we felt it was right to leave the alliance and focus on what we are building within Fight! Nation. We wish the NWA the best in their future endeavours and look forward to continuing our growth in 2016. We would like to make it known to our fans that nothing changes here, everything you have seen live, on DVD or on our social pages is very much Fight! Nation Wrestling.' The NWA British Championship is now the FNW British Championship and 'The Villain' Marty Scurll is the recognised champion with 'The Star Attraction' the official number 1 contender following his victory over Gunner last Saturday at Destination:FIGHT! One change over at twitter, our social media handle is @fightnationuk so make sure you are following as we look to make some exciting announcements on shows & more across the coming months!

Is that the only international member? Isn't Shark Carter's group in Australia still a licensee? Yet another market where the brand isn't trademarked (to the best of my knowledge) and they are collecting licensing fees...

That didn't take long. "Nothing changes" is right...because the alliance had no affect on what they were doing. Zero contribution. Zero value. The trademarks are not registered in Europe anyway (they weren't when I was there at least)....so they were likely paying to use a brand name they could have registered themselves. Anyone not in the US or Japan can do the same. They mentioned that their brand does not "marry" well with the current direction....therefore they are moving forward. Exactly, it would be virtually impossible to move backwards....the alliance has no value. No progressive company will marry well with the alliance's offerings. That doesn't mean someone can't use the branding to their advantage...but it's the talent of a guy like Tony Givens who creates the value thats otherwise not there. Everything seen live, on DVD or on their social pages is very much them....no joke. Again, what value did the alliance bring to the table? Congrats to these guys....they analyzed the situation and reacted accordingly. They aren't holding on....counting on the grandiose thought that serves as a "business plan".

As we've participated in the forum previously and had some nice feedback from some of you I just wanted to drop a quick line in this. Whilst I don't want to deliberate too much on our reasons further than we have already announced I just wanted to reiterate we just feel at this time it's right in the context of where we are going. We have a lot happening over here in the UK, the UK is certainly becoming a hot bed for exciting fresh talent and promotions. We still see ourselves as in our infancy and growing but within our life span so far we are gaining fans who are buying our on demand shows & DVDs across the globe and therefore we are looking at our next steps as vital for our growth in a super competitive market. Whilst Tony is correct the NWA is not trademarked in Europe going ahead and using the NWA without attempting to be part of the alliance would of been wrong and not something we would of wanted to ever do. We leave the alliance with a lot of allies and whilst I see the public dissatisfaction with certain things I want you to be aware there are some really decent people around the brand, whether it will be promotion owners/promoters or workers trying to make an impact in what can only be described as a tough situation. I hope you continue (if you don't at least start) following us and let's just say over the coming months we will have some super announcements that should be appealing to you all, I can promise that this is no hot air either

I totally understand your respect for the "allies" you mention. I get it. I helped recruit our initial promotions.....became friends with some of the promoters.....became a big advocate for some of the workers.....brought in guys like James Beard....etc. There are some good people involved...but you hit the nail on the head when you say they are trying to make the best of a tough situation. Some don't see it that way though. They see the alliance as an opportunity....God Bless them.

Thank you Tony.
I have seen your posts (& others) about a certain someone and it's not my place to inquire or make comment on such.
For any of the member promotions who haven't been in touch the reasons mentioned in house (to the NWA promoters) for my departure aren't accurate and it's simply an understanding that when you see the future very different to others you have to be honest and understand what's best for the future of your business. Remember in a market where I'm looking at national expansion you are judged and looked at by association and that was something we had to consider.
I genuinely wish a lot of the promotions within the NWA well.

Smart, now the NWA only has one international member. Smart to leave or smart that the NWA only has one international member? I am sure the NWA will have other members over time. Smart to leave, I don't know if you or your company would have had the time/finance to do something like this but I've spoke a few times about how the NWA should be trying to build up the international areas with tours. A tour of England with Tharpe footing the bill for a few big names and you guys (Who like to use name wrestlers) bringing in your own guys and coming together for a kind of "NWA Supershow" would have been great especially since English wrestling is so hot right now. Instead it didn't seem that Tharpe was doing a lot for you guys. Maybe if he loses every single NWA international member he'll re-think his strategy in regards to all of this.
