The Nwa system is outdated. No promotion will ever stay around because it makes no sense. At this point, they have no choice but to sign up smaller indies. I think Bruce is making a mistake by not having promotions in every city in the top 10 media markets. You are absolutely right about an outdated system. It has zero value to viable promotions. The small wannabes latch on hoping for the three letter rub...which is non existent. Why the top 10 media markets? Who will notice them there? You really think minor league wrestling can compete for the entertainment dollar in a big city? I ran Houston virtually every month for 5 years. It's tough. We did well....but I came to the conclusion that I would have to build a new business model to truly achieve any kind of real success. I guess fighting to draw 300 people at a local bingo hall and break even is your definition of success. The reality is, many would kill to draw 300 and not lose too bad to tell the truth. Then there is the guy who will draw a handful and not pay his sub standard wrestlers but think he's successful because he's a "member of the THREE LETTERS"....and he's doing things "right" and "old school". There is a reason promotions like Main Event can draw 1000-1700 at their events. They embrace small towns and promote the heck out of them. The competition for the entertainment dollars is much less....and they are more likely to get sponsorship and media support too. Arm chair promoters have it all figured out...but posts like this one make me laugh. You've never spent a dollar of your money or minute of your time promoting professional wrestling...but you have all the answers. OK.

Definition of success is subjective. What is success to you, to me, to whomever is different. There are ways to make the NWA name meaningful and it has little to do with top ten markets. In fact, it's probably the opposite idea. Smaller markets, the places that WWE, TNA, ROH aren't willing to go to.
If someone wanted to make the NWA successful again, it would have to rethink all of its strategies. Trobich had it right. The NWA isn't the WWE. The NWA isn't ROH. The NWA is the NWA. And much like Tony Givens proves, just by his success, the NWA could be viable again.

It's too bad the NWA has to be about one person and that person is not even a wrestler or promoter, he's the owner of it! No one pays to see the owner of a company they come to see what you are able to offer!!!! And if it's only you that you're offering, well that 5 year plan just went down the toilet!
