Chris Lash, promoter of NWA Throwback just announced on his FB that he has been removed as a licensee. The reason that was given was because he has partner with former NWA promoter Billy Woods to form a Roku channel. Chris said the reason that was given for his removal was because the Roku channel he is starting is a conflict of interest with the NWA Classics service

Seems petty. Tharpe should encourage companies to grow and subscription services are the way of the future

There is no forward thinking in the NWA at all!

And that is pure, unadulterated rubbish. Perhaps a bit of history needs to be reprised here. Perhaps a look-back at the settlement the brand made with the federal government re possible/probable anti-trust violations is in order. It is a matter of undeniable fact/history that a former shareholder/member was expelled because of an act that was deemed to be in violation of that accord. If Mr. Lash or anyone else wants to grow their enterprise it should be encouraged, not penalized. As the handful of air continues to disintegrate... You Deserve Justice Not A Kangaroo Court

I have a couple of questions, since the NWA Classics service has been in launched in 2013 I believe. There has been no current NWA footage been added to the service, why hasn't it yet? I know with Bruce being the sole owner of the brand, would he had made the decision to let NWA Throwback go or would he have delegated that duty to someone else? Also, Chris said that he was informed threw FB messager that he was no longer a licensee

The FB message sent to me.
Chris - I really appreciate your being upfront with us regarding your new partnership with Billy Wood - and you certainly have every right to develop your business as you see fit - however we view this as a clear conflict of interest. Additionally - your plans to launch an online subscription and Roku channel puts you directly in competition against our NWAClassics.com project.
I have nothing against you or Billy personally - but you seem to be going in a different direction than the rest of the NWA. After much thought and consideration about your announcement, in the best interests of the NWA, we have to part ways. Accordingly, pursuant to our rights under the contract we have made the decision to terminate your licensing agreement immediately.
We have no problem if you are currently promoting an NWA-branded event, however please remove all NWA-branding from your promotion (website - posters - etc.) immediately thereafter. I have enjoyed working with you during your 8 months in the NWA and we wish you and Billy the best of luck in your future business endeavours together.

Seems like a cop out. People need to be clued in on technology, plus does anyone really subscribe to NWA Classics?

Could you please let me know if I'm corrected or not

BEFORE I START SORRY ABOUT THIS LONG POST BUT I JUST WANTED TO CLARIFY A FEW THINGS FROM MY PERSPECTIVE. I woke up to the news regarding Chris and his Throwback promotion being removed from the NWA and to be honest I am not shocked but it doesn't make it right. Chris & I have for a while been discussing launching an subscription based channel via Roku but we always said it had to be right for both parties and be something ethical and fair in the way promotions are rewarded as part of the output. The reasons for taking Throwback out of the NWA due to conflicts of interest seem incredibly short sighted. Ultimately we have obtained some exciting libraries across the world to be part of the service and it will affectively be a wrestling channel showcasing some great footage from the past couple of decades plus we will be offering wrestling promotions the opportunity to stream their special events or weekly tv on the channel with revenue potential based on viewership per video, I cannot see how this would be a conflict for the NWA and find the decision somewhat knee-jerk due to a lack of understanding and vision. How does this conflict with the NWA? Chris advised me one thing was mentioned... NWA Classics - Ultimately a subscription model that releases matches from one library, the Houston library which is from a certain time era and style. Does classics showcase anything else? How long has it been in existence and do the current NWA members upload footage onto it? It's been nearly a year since it launched and I think it's clear that either the project has stagnated or their promoters don't believe or add any additional value to it. I read that they were looking to put it on Roku but not sure if that has materialised. How Licensing a brand name and then putting your output onto a subscription is conflict still puzzles me. NWA is an affiliate program, what we are looking to achieve is a wrestling channel. It's been mentioned that its a conflict with direction of the NWA - What is the direction of the NWA? What is its purpose? Conflict with direction can only be citied if a direction is clear and known. The NWA has some fantastic regional promotions using it's licence and regarding the channel there are some who would fit what we want as output, when Chris announced it some reached out asking for info as they wanted to use the service, they may hide that fact with the recent news. I am excited to put this incredible library out for public consumption and hope we can help promotions get their output to a condensed wrestling focused audience via the subscription service, or and monetize their content without hindering their other revenue streams I feel bad for Chris as I don't think he wanted his NWA experience to end like this, but life goes on regardless.

Just curious if NWA Throwback gets a refund for the four months they miss out on or if Tharpe just keeps it. I'm guessing the latter.
