Why does age have anything to do with it? If the guy can go then he can go age doesn't mean squat. I'm 44 yrs old didn't start training until I was 30 and I can and still out work most yoing guys out there and so does a lot of other wrestlers out there. Age only means something to WWE and they are just like any other pro franchise... money is better invested in a young stud then an older on and I totally get that but on the indies age is nothing but a number.

I'd just rather a guy like Chase who I could build around for 10-15 years as a major face of my brand compared to a guy like Anthony who will probably be retired by then.
It pretty much comes down to Chase doing more and being better though to be honest.

Age is certainly nothing but a number, however I'm a big believer in World Champions should be World Champions.
Chase Owens I am a big fan of and with or without the NWA affiliation Chase will be working for me in the UK based on his exposure and the fact the guy is a top junior heavyweight worker.

Remember the NWAZone message board? Those days were fun.
A lot has change over the years in wrestling. Not sure how the NWA can fit in today market. So much competition. People tend to forget, NJPW,AAA and CMLL wasn't this accessible, there wasn't no NXT or Lucha Underground. Indies wasn't taking advantage of places like Youtube, now you have about a 100 indies with their own tv show. In matter of fact, JAPW,NWA Anarchy,SAW before the NWA days,NECW and NWA Virginia were the only indies that I knew had tv shows posted on the net.

Chase's bookings in NJPW aren't even through the NWA anymore. I doubt they would care or even allow him to wear the NWA Jr. Title.
As far as Corino v. Dane... this is why the YouTube Promos would be an awesome thing. For me Corino is a draw. I drove all the way to San Diego once to watch him wrestle. Grant it, I'm an NWA mark... but he carried the title in one of the darker times for the NWA and was defending in Florida, Jersey, and Japan. To me his legacy makes him a legitimate challenger. But promos and video packages reminding new fans would be the best way to get "hype" for this match. Corino is a "Wordsmith" so his promos would be perfect. I remember for a brief time he was supposed to face Pearce and that would have been an awesome program.
Corino could still be Pearce-ish for the NWA. I still think Dane is a great champion for the NWA. I wish more promoters would get behind him and spend more time building him up.

I agree with the NJPW and Chase thing too, the NWA relationship seems done and Steve was sent over to collect the belt more than anything else. Right now those championships need a hook to make people care even if the workers wearing them aren't World Calibre perceived (minus one half of the tag champs) & the Corino thing maybe they have something. Jay you are right, imagine video packages, pictures and the reason behind Corino finally getting his shot, yes it's years later but that can be built on. Why people here have said it doesn't matter is because the audience aren't being given reasons to care. It's either a lack of promotion, marketing, interest in the talent holding the belts or a combination of all 3. It's tough on how to centralise and focus people's attention and I openly discussed this with Bruce face to face with many in attendance in January. When the messaging of the Nwa is all about the past to the point of over shadowing the current promotions and talent why would anyone care about the future? Even the rebrand of classics was rebranded without anything significantly different content wise. This isn't a rant because I have always made my feelings known directly to Bruce and James and whilst they don't agree with my vision there is no harm in airing an opinion. No one is 100% right and no one has to agree with me which is totally cool but for someone who wanted to help reinvigorate from the inside & actually quite likes reading some of the opinions on here (I have even took some and will implement on some of my promotions output) rather than lurking I wanted to contribute.

Except for all the times where I've said "That's just my opinion" and "I'm not an expert", right? I'll admit to being blunt and passionate in my beliefs and opinions but I've never implied I'm an expert I just have views on things. 3. I don't care about Gregory James or Steve Anthony. They are regional independent guys and will never move forward. Chase Owens should be the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion right now and nobody can dispute that.
You mean, like this here Mr. Expert?
You tend to use "Just my opinion" as an excuse for people can't say you are "wrong" because of the misbelief that opinions can't be right or wrong.
You not caring about Steve Anthony and Gregory James means nothing to anyone. I remember when you pal Raven was a nothing but regional indie guy. Hell I remember when many so called "Names" were nothing but undercard jobbers for years.
Oh and Anthony also wrestled AJ Styles some months before Owens did, as well as Jimmy Rave, Kevin Douglas, and countless other names you rave about.
For the record, I'd put the National title on Owens.

No, but they are because of the NWA. NJPW allowed Amber Gallows to use the NWA Women's belt. Adding a Champion to their tournament would only add to it.

When did she last defend the belt or be seen with the belt on a NJPW show? Serious question as I don't know.

the NWA relationship seems done and Steve was sent over to collect the belt more than anything else. To be fair Anthony went twice before being sent to "collect" the title. And NJPW doesn't have to book anyone; if they bring them in, especially to go over, you better believe they like them.

She never defended, but she brought the belt out when she came down with Gallows. Of course it was shortly after she won the belt that they left New Japan.

He may have gone over there twice before but he certainly went there to 'collect' the title, Tiger Mask couldn't get a US Visa and therefore to get the title back from New Japan properly they chose Steve as the guy which NJPW cleared and he went there to get the belt back. We talked about me booking Tiger Mask for the UK instead to do the same thing but it didn't work out timing wise.

I don't doubt that he went to "collect" it. Just pointing out New Japan had used him before and the NWA couldn't have sent just anybody.

Aww shit, you got me on the ropes. When did I ever mention being an expert? I said nobody can genuinely dispute Owens as champion because he is far and away the best Junior in the NWA. Feel free to do it, I've seen nobody bring a "Owens shouldn't hold the belt" argument to the table yet. I use just my opinion to differentiate from using facts and to avoid an influx of "HOW DO YOU KNOW?! YOU'VE NEVER PROMOTED!". I've gone down that road before with people on here. I don't know where you got the idea that Raven is my pal from. I'm not even particularly passionate about Raven and felt ripped off the couple times I paid to see him where he didn't do much of anything. Also, Raven was a regional indy guy in his 20's. Anthony being a 10+ year vet and only ever really getting to the regional indies says that no major company wanted him, nothing wrong with it but fact of the matter is major companies do want Owens and he's accomplished more than Anthony in his mid twenties. if they bring them in, especially to go over, you better believe they like them. Liked him so much that he did one off matches with the company as a part of the NWA angle and was never brought back after the NWA angle finished.
