Seems like the NWA hasn't got a lot going on. A quick search of NWA Wrestling's facebook says that Jax Dane is going up against Mustang Mike soon. That's right, a man who looks quite old named Mustang Mike is going to challenge for the title.
Nothing is going on in the NWA but the "Bruce Tharpe can't be talked about in a negative way" has sent this board on a downward spiral. We've seemingly lost Tony Brooklyn who offered great insight and guys like Phil, Fred and others have gone from regular posters to very very occasional posters.
As most predicted it is now three people responding with "cool" and "great" to the very small amount of NWA news coming out. It's unsurprising that the biggest thread since this new rule has been the "Hey, remember how great the NWA used to be?" thread where Mr. Marquez posted the Seven Levels Of Hate Documentary.
Anyway, if we can't blame Tharpe who do we blame for the lack of activity within the Alliance and ultimately this board? Just two months ago we had tons of activity and now it's not uncommon to go 2-3 days without a single post. DKM, comment?

It's a huge shame. The problem is nothing noteworthy is happening with the NWA and therefore the continued drop in interest isn't surprising.
Maybe it's just finally ran its course?

I salute the promoters, workers, etc. Most are talented people. And they can and will thrive no matter what brand they proffer - even if it's no brand and simply a marquee that reads "Pro Wrestling."
Albeit this "brand," the AWA or any other blast from the past, the train has, long ago, reached the end of the tracks. Today's audiences might not know who Bruno Sammartino, Dick The Bruiser, Ricki Starr, Cowboy Bob Ellis, Adrian Adonis, Buddy Rogers, The Fabulous Kangaroos, et al are.
Nor do they care.
Today's viable product is rooted in a multimedia extravaganza. Light shows, ear-shattering sound, pyrotechnics, etc. That is what the wrestling consumer has been classically conditioned to expect.
Do Indies sometimes succeed financially? Sure. Anybody who has promoted has experienced both "hits" and "home runs."
So what do you do with an antique? An artifact? A dinosaur?
You give it a befitting sendoff and put it in a museum.
Want to talk about the much-abused pro wrestling definition of "respect"?
That's the way to show it.
Been a great run. Now we mourn as a certain three-letter acronym is interred and left to . . .
Rest in Peace.

Same as last time you said this:
Please the NWA is one board on this forum and the most active. If people want to talk wrestling we have plenty of places to go cheer, analyze, and complain here. The quiet speaks more to people not really wanting to talk about wrestling than anything else. Go post on the United board.
Nothing noteworthy? Steve Corino is going to come back from neck surgery to challenge Jax Dane for the World Heavyweight title. His first chance at the title in 15 years.
Chase Owens recently teamed with Sean Waltman in Smoky Mountain and is scheduled to team with Buff Bagwell on a card that will see Scott Hall and Kevin Nash as guests.
Steve Anthony and Gregory James had another show stealer match in Austin and have a third match schedule for NWA Elite.
Both NWA Northeast and NWA Midwest have plans to bring the NWA World Tag Team Champions.
IHWE is putting on two shows this Sunday including one to help support the troops.
Greg Anthony continues to defend the NWA National title almost every week.
Amber O'Neil is 15-0 in title defenses.
But, yeah nothing is going on.
Oh and it is not "Bruce Tharpe can't be talked about in a negative way" it's be constructive with your criticism and don't keep repeating the same bitching.

But, yeah nothing is going on. So if it's all happening in the Alliance why is none of it promoted on the NWA social media and why is none of it talked about on here? Either nobody thinks the NWA is worth talking about anymore or something has been done to turn them off this board. I don't know why you talk about the other sections either, those are pretty dead as well.

I posted about three cards, nobody said anything. Vendetta posts about their shows, almost no comments. We had someone posting on the main page upcoming shows for different promotions. Quiet. NWA Blue Collar Wrestling post about Kevin Sullivan and your the only person to respond. So information is out there to talk about. I don't know why you talk about the other sections either, those are pretty dead as well. Yeah, that's my point. No "Bruce Tharpe can't be talked about in a negative way" rule to interfere with there, still nobody has anything to say. What that tells me is, sadly, people here don't want to talk about wrestling. What promotions and shows do you like? Shawn, gmellos, and I talk about UFC.

Now his shows get zero response, completely his fault. I think the other sections are dead because this a predominantly NWA forum. There isn't much of a better option out there for NWA talk except here. I personally follow TNA, the Australian indy scene and have subscribed to the Network recently but my classic wrestling talk (Pretty much all I use the WWE Network for), TNA talk and Australian indy scene talk is generally on WrestlingForum.com because they have hundreds of active members. I understand there is an active UFC thread but I don't follow it, I do click the UWN forum sometimes because I like David Marquez but I can't say I'm passionate about UWN, AIWF or any other territory system. Maybe if AWA-WSL was still around I'd be a regular in that as well but probably not.

If ownership/management of a site wants a certain culture, the right thing for me to do is respect it. I did....and I will. It didn't take a genius to figure out I was a cause of their angst...and out of respect for our friendship(s)....it wasn't directly addressed....but said in a way that I picked up on clearly. Everyone has a right to their own playground and it's rules. They support the alliance (and the individual who defines it, yes it's a package deal because they are one and the same).....so be it. Nothing said or done here, by me or others, changes the facts....and how they will play out. The justice one deserves will be delivered.
With that I'll sign off....and look out for flying chairs.

Now his shows get zero response, completely his fault. Well, since I got brought into this... I didn't say you can't give an opinion. You were asking why the World Heavyweight title match at Casino Royale didn't go on last, and it seems like you didn't like the answer you got. You then assumed it's because there was not enough hype around that match, when in fact, that had nothing to do with it. Sometimes things happen which forces you to switch things around from the order you'd like to have things in into an order that works best for everyone's schedules. If you've actually had done this a time or two, you'd know that. It doesn't mean you can't have an opinion. You're entitled to your own opinions, and have the forum here to express them. You are not entitled to your own facts. Also, I agree with Marquez on peppermints.

1. Corino coming back would have been big 5 years ago, but as much as I appreciate Corino's past work, I don't think there are tons of fans awaiting his return these days. 2. Chase is a fabulous worker, and deserves all the accolades, and I think is genuinely identified as a NWA worker. I agree with your point here. 3. Anthony & James lit it up at Parade of Champions, but neither are what I consider to put in the same class as Owens. 4. I haven't seen the recent licensing agreement, but are licensees still required to hold 5 NWA Championship matches anymore? If so, this point isn't relevant. 5. Amber may be 15-0 in title defenses, but the other 4-5 guys posting here think she shouldn't be holding the womens title. I think part of the issue concerning lack of discussion of the individual promotions is simply because they aren't seen as "part" of a larger group, just indy organizations running like any other indy in the US. Obviously the big exception is Tony's promotion, but honestly the rest hardly get a blip on the radar from most of the websites/repoters that cover indy wrestling. I don't see that as the fault of the individual promotions. I think that any company who is licensing a brand name has to do something to maintain the value of the brand, so when the licensee pays their money to use it, that license has some value to the end user. Obviously this is different than franchising, which involves "partnering" with the franchisor, and adopting all of their business plans, inventory, etc, in an attempt to replicate their success. The upside of licensing is that you still get to somewhat keep your identity, but again, if the value of the license to the end user is of little or no consequence, then what's it worth. I've watched some of the videos of the various licensed promotions. I really enjoy Vendetta, and I think everyone knows how much I respect Smoky Mtn. In my opinion, however, with the exception of Smoky Mountain, I seriously doubt that the licensing does anything for ANY of the promotions, either in terms of opening up opportunity within the business, or drawing fans at the gate. I remember when Tommy Cairo and I approached several of the casinos in Atlantic City with the prospect of running NWA Force One shows there (and this was during the Trobich regime), and not one of the show coordinators (several were serious wrestling fans who remembered Cairo from his time in ECW) thought the NWA still existed. 7 years have now passed, and I believe the brand recognition has shrunk since then. I suppose that can still change, but it will take a coordinated effort with both the "owner" of the brand & his licensees to pull it off, no small task, in my opinion.
