I never said free, although there is nothing wrong with that.
Every contribution I've made to wrestling (mostly on Jay's site) has been for free.

Jay was talking about the NWA Facebook and what they had posted, shared. You have stated your opinion multiple times, instead or griping and bitching about the same old things, including things you know nothing about, either use you stills to help out and contribute or shut up. If Tharpe wants to toss some money at someone every week he could do an Around The NWA Podcast or Video. I (Or most others) won't use their skills for free (Nor should they have to) I remember when we had a team of volunteers who would have run through a wall for "us". Oh well...

Laid low for a week or so. Had a bit of a family emergency and a super busy work week but things are settling down now. First off does anyone know if That Evil Mr Fred has joined the new board? Maybe he has and I just missed it but his opinions are at least in my eyes valued and missed! now fellas I've not always been one to praise "Uncle Lou's" favorite tyke and I think we all know that but when I have I do believe it's been warranted. Hell I've been blocked from his personal facebook page but that's simply cowardice on his part however I've also always given him his just due for his successes. And in this area I've got to side with DKM. I've HONESTLY thought to myself lately that the NWA official facebook page has been updated very frequently with coverage of all member promotions. Most anyhow. I'll agree that the National title along with the other BOD titles aside from the DG aren't championships that are simply over enough that just by putting the belt on any random indy guy will instantly give them credibility. Not these days. Not in the past 25 years. And the DG just barely can make that claim. I think that this regime and the former are sometimes guilty of giving any random guy a run and figuring well its the National title! Holding the belt gives them a rub and instantly puts them over! Well thats just not the case. I think you have to give Tony Brooklyn credit because when the IWC first took control I believe there was an emphasis on certain "NWA talent" and getting them over along with reestablishing the belts themselves. I'm thinking Kahagas, Byron Wilcott, Damian Wayne. Since TB departed I think there has been a steady decline in that type of booking. The titles aren't defended everywhere like they had been, Kahagas and Wayne especially. But in spite of it the Facebook page had indeed seen more frequent updates. And for the record I see no problem with a John Saxon as National Champion. I just wish he could get booked all around the Alliance and get his name out there. In a way that's the plus of putting belts on your Pearces and Cabanas and Waynes. They're already getting steady work and are already established and well regarded. In closing I do have to say I agree with Tony in that media can make you come off waaaay bigger than you are if used correctly. I would have to say that oval the NWA has failed at this BUT I agree that it would also hold true for the Trob and his NWA. Be good.

I (Or most others) won't use their skills for free (Nor should they have to) I remember when we had a team of volunteers who would have run through a wall for "us". Oh well... Interesting. Nobody even contacted me in asking for support or help. One of the things that created legitimacy to this site was the likes of Damien Wayne, Chance Prophet, Adam Pearce, David Marquez, Fred Rubenstein, Bill Behrens, Bob Trobich, and others whom I'm sure I'm forgetting joining the previous forum and being apart of the community. I wonder what would have happened if the new regime would have opened up to this community the same way the last one did... BTW. What I make on this site, doesn't really even cover the cost of hosting. It's a labor of love. Nobody is getting rich in wrestling. Not the promoters, bookers, wrestlers, referees, concession stand owner, t-shirt seller, the journalist, or the blogger. Fred has registered for this board, but I know he was vacationing in Europe. If I was vacationing in Europe (or anywhere really), no offense to any of you, but the last thing I'd be on is this message board.

You can get rich from wrestling. There is a promoter here in Australia who has a circuit of sold shows he does and he makes about 4000-5000 dollars a pop from RSL Club (Pretty much a building that offers a bar, food, gambling and entertainment throughout the day at night) shows and he does the occasional outdoor event show at a fair. His circuit of shows don't change and the same buildings have him once a year so he'd probably be making close to 60-70 thousand a year just from pro wrestling (He has a day job also)
He uses about 6 freelance guys and 6 guys who are loyal to him. Each talent isn't a "name" so they make about 50 bucks a pop. He owns a ring truck and his own ring so honestly you're probably looking at around 1000-1500 in expense to run the show the rest is profit and they make a killing in merchandise (I've seen it with my own eyes). They just ran about 6 shows in a lot of smaller areas and packed the buildings so that was probably a 25,000 dollar tour (Before tax) for the promoter.
He was smart about it though. To my knowledge every show he's ever held was a sold show so he goes in without risk of losing money because ticket sales are irrelevant to him. He also has a wrestling school where he charges about 1500 for sign up and whilst it isn't that popular anymore (I believe it burned down actually) there was a time where they had like 10-15 new students a year signing up.
So yeah, you can make money in wrestling you've just got to be smart. This guy was smart and went to areas that get no entertainment ever and offered them events. The problem with most promoters is that they run big areas that aren't really big on wrestling so you're competing with every entertainment event and sports event in town which results in the same 75-100 fans turning up each month to the same building.
